Ever since I watched the first episode of Fixer Upper, I’ve been a huge Chip and Joanna Gaines’ fan! It’s no secret she has a good eye for interior designs so when she came out with her first cookbook, Magnolia Table, I knew I had to have it.
They first recipe I tried was her chocolate chip cookies and ever since then, I’ve been obsessed with them. In my opinion, they are the best I’ve ever had!
Best Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe?
Personally, I think so. What sets her cookies apart from others is the fact that she uses less butter than most recipes call for and only uses brown sugar instead of a combination of brown and white.
Doing this makes the cookies chewier and denser. It’s a cookie that has that perfect balance of crispy (but not a dry crunch) on the outside and chewy on the inside.
Joanna Gaines Chocolate Chip Cookie Recipe
Ingredients
- 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 heaping teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- 8 tablespoons (1 stick) unsalted butter, at room temperature
- 2 cups packed light brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 1 1/2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees (F) and line a cookie sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt. Set this mixture aside.
- In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and brown sugar until you achieve a fluffy texture. You can use a stand mixture with the paddle attachment on medium speed. Add the eggs into the mixture and blend. Then add in the vanilla and blend.
- Slowly pour the flour mixture into the butter mixture and blend until fully combined. Add the chocolate chips and mix well into the dough.
- Drop spoonfuls of dough onto your prepared cookie sheet. Place it in the oven and bake until the cookies are lightly browned, usually around 10-11 minutes. Before removing them from the sheet, let the cookies cool for 1 minute. Add the cookies to a cookie rack to completely cool.
How to Store Chocolate Chip Cookies
So, you’ve just whipped up a batch of Joanna Gaines’ famous chocolate chip cookies – congrats! But now comes the important question: how to store these?
- If you’re planning on enjoying them within the next few days, simply let them cool to room temperature and then store them in an airtight container at room temp for up to 3 days. This is what we do because they are lucky to last 3 days in our home!
- If you’re looking to make them last a little longer, put them in the fridge in an airtight container for up to a week.
- And if, by some miracle, you manage to make it to the two-month mark without devouring them all (kudos to you!), stash them in the freezer once they’re completely cooled. Thaw before serving.
